Great Result at Durham Festival of Brass Contest

Well today has been a fantastic day at the Durham Festival of Brass Contest; or the Durham League as you may know it.
It was our first contest under the baton of Daniel Laverick and we took home some silverware!

We placed a respectable 5th overall with our performance of “Stantonbury Festival”; This year’s 4th section area testpiece. But we also took home the shield for best 4th section band which we are thrilled with. 😄 This shows a massive improvement from where we were this time last year!

The band would like to say a huge thank you (and well done) to Daniel for all the hard work he has put in to get to us to this point. In fact Daniel also took home a trophy for the conductor of the best 4th section band! 🏆

Congratulations to all the other bands who came home today with trophies and shields for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place; Bearpark and Esh Colliery, Kippax Band and Jayess Newbiggin Brass Band respectively. And to those who won soloist awards.

The band have earned themselves a rest until our next rehearsal on Thursday, where we will then be working ontop of our performance today and aiming to do even better at the Area contest in March.
