Comments: great to see the band is still going, when i worked at Eccles i used to pay towards it each week. i often wonder how it was going and if you managed financially. the rest of shire has gone as is Backworth and just about everything in that area that was my youth, the lines, pit heap, dicky pond, coal washers, tanky's, sidings, the loco sheds on a winters night burning bright, the treat, pit canteen plate pies, all gone. I'm no dinosaur, but what replaced it all is "crap"
