3rd place at Butlins
The band gained a very impressive 3rd place in the Butlins Mineworkers contest, held today at Skegness.
The band performed “Four Noble Truths” by Philip Sparke of draw number 11, competing against 18 other bands.
The judges were impressed with the band’s sound and phrases such as “exciting playing” and “sonorous opening” were amongst the judges remarks.
The contest was the first contest back for three old members, Penny on cornet and Peter and Craig on bass, and the band are grateful to Duncan Beckley for the amount of patience shown and work put in with the band to get us to the required standard to compete in such a fierce national contest.
Next contest is the Brass at the Guild contest in Preston, on the 8th February, followed by the National Areas at Darlington in March.
